VT HotFolder™

Simple and intuitive file-based media ingest with metadata pushed from just about any popular nonlinear editor or other content creation system.

The VT HotFolder™ application makes fast and easy work of importing SD/HD file-based media content from a variety of sources into the VT database and for immediate playout on any Apella™ video server. With wide support for multiple codecs, video standards, and file containers, the application is installed directly on a nonlinear editor system or other content creation workstation for easy and distributed access.

Flexible Folder Profiles
VT HotFolder supports up to five independent folder profiles that are made either fully automatic or interactive to allow user-defined metadata to be entered. A profile also defines the type of ingest process (re-wrap or transcode), metadata base template, Media Location target, user ID range, and other parameters.

Automatic or Interactive Processing
Users simply drag new media content to the desired HotFolder target location and the file is automatically added to the processing queue. If the folder’s profile is interactive then the user is prompted for additional metadata before processing begins. All media files are easily viewed at a glance and their history is tracked with the Status Monitor window.

Search, Browse, Link, and Edit
All incoming media files automatically have low resolution proxy media generated which are easily searched, sorted, and edited using the VT Proxy Editor application included. Furthermore, media that has been ingested and resides in the VT database is easily linked or downloaded into most nonlinear editors by dragging content from the VT Browser into the editor’s project bin or desktop.
